Rest in peace, dear friend
Dear shell friends,
It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you that our dear shell friend Dirk De Boe passed away on 18/02/2023. Dirk was 62 years young.
Our support goes to his spouse and family.
Those of you wanting to pay final respects, can do so on Sunday morning. You can also leave a message online. See attached obituary for further details.
Monthly meeting tomorrow 12/02
Don’t miss it !!
Tomorrow 12/02, Goran will spoil us once again with his knowledge on Strombidae, and this time he’ll be looking at hybrids in Strombus (s. l.).
All welcome, and we wish you a lot of fun in advance !
SAVE THE DATES !
Monthly meeting Sunday 11 December 2022
It’s coming !! … It’s coming !!
Easier, softer, shorter, refurbished … yet crazy as ever !!
Sunday 11 December: Ye bigge Shell Quiz – Edition 7
THE quiz where questions nor answers matter, yet where the fun with the crazy stories and the interactions with other shell lovers are the main subject.
Still in teams of 4 people … you better start thinking who you want on your team!
Be there!
Fossil shells – Paleotime
For those amongst us who like fossil shells …
Message received from our member Wilfried Nees: This weekend, the Paleotime event will take place in Herselt (also see https://www.paleotime.eu/index_nl.html).
BUT, The road Herselt-Aarschot (N19) appears to be partially inaccessible due to road works (typically Belgian, right). The venue is reachable easily coming from the E313 motorway, or alternatively via Begijnendijk / Ramsel (The infamous Liersesteenweg).
Thanks to Wilfried for the tip to those who will go there .. enjoy!
An esteemed visitor!
This Sunday we’ll meet again at the SAC for our monthly meeting.
This time we have a guest speaker on the program: Ulrich (Uli) Wieneke will enlighten us with his lecture: “when snails cheat on each other – hybridisation in the genus Lambis“. This lecture will be in English.
See you on Sunday!
Fancy a cool weekend-activity?
Then drive down to Zele, to Museum Erfgoed Zele, where our friend and shell-colleague Wilfried De Bock exhibits his collection.
Further information can be found in our calendar, or on https://hokzele.be/
Don’t forget to check the Museum’s practical info BEFORE you leave as it is only accessible on certain Saturdays during the month. (also see https://hokzele.be/praktische-informatie/)
31ste International Shell Show – COVID update
Last year we had to foresee quite a few measures, yet under the current regulations, wearing a mask is NO LONGER MANDATORY.
You CAN wear a mask should you wish to do so. That is perfectly ok, yet there is no obligation anymore to do so.
From the organisation, we’ll foresee hand gel for those wishing to use it, yet there too, no obligations are in force anymore.
Our advise? Just use common sense, be yourself, and most importantly enjoy the nice shells !
See you soon !
Monthly meeting April 2022
